Mustard for Dish Washing?

April 7, 2010

Just wanted to make a quick post and finally break the spell of not blogging for almost a year!

Anyway, on my recent trip to Russia, I saw my mom washing dishes in a small basin of hot water (they are saving water), with some yellow powder instead of dish washing liquid.

Apparently, mustard powder is a very good home “remedy” for grease. It gets rid of all the right things and leaves your dishes in a chemical free state, and the environment healthy. And everybody is happy.

I have also heard that vinegar could be used, but haven’t given it a try myself.

May be you can!

Good idea….making small ripples into a cleaner environment…one mom at a time. Good information…I will probably need a gloves…I also suspect that it is not much more expensive then cheap detergents. Let’s save the ocean….no price tag on that one of cause. When I learn about sulfates in our shampoos I have tried healthy versions….and could not get it out of my hair. I know that the water should be softer…so the filter is needed…my next step probably. Thank you for your info. Irina

      Thanks Irina,

I would like to know what natural products you used to wash your hair with. I have tried Kefir- it works fine and your hair is nice and soft afterwords – but my husband HATED the smell!!!!
      cheers
